LIFE by YOICHIRO NISHIMURA x SINGAPORE EDITION HOTEL, SINGAPORE

In my extensive exploration within the "Life" series, which started in the early 80s, I have embarked on years of experimentation, capturing the exquisite essence of my own and my wife's 'Ikebana': the Japanese art of flower arrangement. The essence I seek to convey is encapsulated in one of the two translations of the word "flower" in Japanese Kanji characters (華), symbolizing elegance. Against a backdrop of darkness, these flowers are meticulously photographed under the gentle caress of natural light, utilizing the sophisticated Hasselblad camera. Each photograph encapsulates a profound narrative where my emotions and values resonate, articulating the delicate balance between life and death.

Each sophisticated room is graced with the captivating allure of fine art photographs curated from the 'LIFE' series by Japanese photographer Yoichiro Nishimura.

ECLIPSIS LUNAE - ECLIPSIS SOLIS by KAN-ZAN-LOC

In keeping with Japanese painting traditions, Kan-Zan-Loc paints with pigments made of ground lapis lazuli, malachite, and azurite, as well as gold and silver in his new paintings.

Known for his dedication to keeping Japanese paintings alive, KanZan creates his intricately fluid imagery with richly saturated pigments, like Ganryo, a traditional Japanese paint made of powdered shellfish and natural indigo-plant-blue. In these new works the artist applies pigments made of ground lapis lazuli, malachite, and azurite, all semi-precious stones based pigments used in traditional Japanese paintings.

Inspired by the Rinpa school (an artistic community founded by Hon'ami Kōetsu in the 17th century), famed for paintings with gold or silver leaf backgrounds, KanZan’s new works are inspired by several celebrated Rinpa works including the folding screens Wind and Thunder Gods ( , Fūjin Raijin-zu) at Kennin-ji temple in Kyoto.

3 WORKS FROM THE MOVE SERIES by TOSHIO IEZUMI

In the ground and polished piece, the homogenous and hard transparency of the sheet glass turns into a warm green transparency. I adore this green transparent internal space that comes into the piece. Curving makes it possible to alter the transparency of the sheet glass.

My works show the variations of transparency depending on the types of glass, forms and positions. They are the responses to my questions moment to moment: what I am interested in, that and how I am seeing.

Medium: Heat Reflective Glass, Hand Carved and Polished

LIGHT DANCES by YOSUKE MIYAO

"As an artist, the medium that I am using has some restrictions on form, but expressing my inspiration allows me to define my creation without losing the characteristics of the glass - the allure of its transparency and the perfectly smooth surface. My creation requires different and various bending techniques. With no use of molds and all done by hand, I shaped and curved the float glass to an almost impossible shape. I intend to avoid the use of color or any form of decorations on the glass because I want to reveal the inherent and natural beauty of glass."

Medium: Float Glass

Dimension & Year: 42 x 42 x 40 cm & 2022
